American rawhide is heavier, whiter, and most important: boiled and baked. This process insures no change in molecular structure of the original rawhide. When the dog gnaws on this rawhide, it softens and can be eaten and digested. Many other types of rawhide are deep-fried in fat. This may enhance the flavor, but the frying changes the molecular structure of the hide making it very brittle.These hard sharp pieces can cause serious and sometimes fatal damage to the dog's digestive system. |
